The life of a conductor may seem splendid, exciting, and perhaps even glamorous to the audience. We appear to “dance on the podium,” but this dance has many nuances and layers that most people are not aware of.

My wish is to share with you my experiences and thoughts connected to conducting. Why Behind the Curtain? The title does not refer only to everything that happens when the stage lights are off and the public cannot see us. It also means looking beyond appearances, beyond beliefs, beyond smiling faces, and beyond famous names.

This is a personal and intimate journey, but I am willing to share it with my readers—not only to offer an insight into the world of conducting, but also because I feel a need to put these experiences into words. In a way, one could say that this is a diary.

I hope that you, dear reader, will find something encouraging and inspiring both in and between these lines.
